How to set up Stripe and link it to your booking page
Payments go to your Stripe account — BookingPage does not hold customer card funds. You need a Stripe account and API keys from the Stripe Dashboard.
- Create a Stripe account at stripe.com/register (free). Use the email for your business.
- Complete business details in Stripe (Settings → Business). Live card payments require a verified account.
- Get your API keys: in Stripe open Developers → API keys. Turn on Test mode (toggle top-right) while setting up.
- Paste test keys here under the Sandbox keys tab below —
pk_test_…(Publishable) andsk_test_…(Secret). Webhook signing secret is not needed for booking checkout — leave it blank. - Click Save Stripe connection, then Test active connection. Fix any errors before going live.
- Enable payments on a service: in Step 3 set the service price type to Fixed with an amount (not “Starts from” or “Free”) — only fixed-price services collect payment online.
- Optional promo codes: in Step 4 add an offer with a code and set Online discount to Percent or Fixed amount. Customers enter the code at checkout and pay the discounted total. Codes with no online discount are display-only and cannot be applied on the booking page.
- Publish your page (Step 6). Open your live booking URL, enter name and email (required for card payments), pick a paying service, and complete a test booking with card
4242 4242 4242 4242, any future expiry, any CVC. To test a promo, click Apply after entering your code before paying. - Go live: in Stripe switch off Test mode, copy
pk_live_…andsk_live_…, paste under Production keys, set Active environment to Production, save and test again.
Where customers pay: after you publish, paying services show a card form on your /book/your-slug page at checkout. Money settles in your Stripe balance (view payments in Stripe → Payments).
Stripe enforces a minimum charge per currency (e.g. about £0.30 for GBP). Very large discounts may cap at that minimum rather than £0.
